Tamim Iqbal (Opening batsman) has been included to Bangladesh squad to play the Asia Cup 2012, three days and many grouping after having primarily been excluded and listed only as a reserve. Bangladesh Cricket Board have now issued a release saying Tamim has been included to the squad, selecting a 15 man squad for the Asia Cup 2012, which will be starts with a match between Bangladesh vs. Pakistan in Mirpur Stadium, Dhaka on 11 March 2012.

Tamim Iqbal’s name was in the original 15-man list the selectors had drawn up but was deleted after the list was given to Bangladesh Cricket Board President Mr. Mustafa Kamal for approval. Tamim Iqbal dropped from the squad led chief player’s selector Akram Khan to declare his resignation, citing interference in selection from directors and the board president.
Tuesday and Wednesday, Tamim Iqbal underwent fitness tests to prove that he had fully recovered from typhoid. Confirmation of his fitness came from captain Mushfiqur Rahim and coach Stuart Law as well as cricket operations committee, but the drama was not over.

I have learned that on Thursday afternoon Kamal informed the board's cricket operations committee to continue with the 14-man squad, without Tamim Iqbal. After several hours of discussions, Tamim Iqbal was reported late on Thursday of his inclusion and had to rush to the team hotel and join the rest of the squad.
